Dibber Silverbacken takes the next step for youth mental health - launches PlayWellMinds for students
Dibber Silverbäcken in Sollentuna announced today that the school has chosen to roll out PlayWellMinds for all students in grade 8 after a successful pilot in spring 2024. The decision means that educators will be trained in the PlayWell7 program, a central part of PlayWellMind's concept for Teen Mental Fitness, which aims to proactively strengthen the mental health and well-being of young people.
Principal Eva Ulmander Eriksson sees great potential in the new initiative:
“We are passionate about our students' mental health. By working with PlayWell7, our students get the tools they need to manage emotions and thoughts, stress and develop their self-esteem and well-being. This is an investment that will give them vital skills for the future.”
PlayWellMinds offers a unique program that combines interactive lectures with a digital app. Through the seven steps of PlayWell7 – Calm, Acceptance, Situation, Goal, Evaluate, Tailwind and Celebration – students are given practical tools to build mental strength, improve their focus and manage adversity.
Deputy Principal Jenny Blomquist emphasizes that PlayWellMinds is fully aligned with Dibber’s values:
“This fits perfectly with Dibber’s focus on ‘heart for learning’. PlayWellMinds creates a meaningful learning environment where students learn to deal with events that hopefully lead to better performance.”
The pilot project showed strongly positive results. According to an evaluation of the program, 66% of students believed that PlayWellMinds had a positive impact on their mental health and 62% of students said that they wanted to continue using the app even after the program ended.
Based on the results of the pilot, Dibber Sweden sees great opportunities to scale up the program.
Pia Ohlsson, Director of Student Health for Dibber Sweden, emphasizes the strategic potential:
“If the outcome for our students in grade 8 is as positive as during the pilot, we see great opportunities to roll out PlayWellMinds to more schools within Dibber. This would be a milestone in our work to strengthen students’ mental well-being.”
PlayWellMinds is not just an effort for today’s students but part of a larger strategy to address the growing mental ill health among young people.
“We are proud to partner with Dibber Silverbäcken and support their students on their journey towards increased well-being and mentally fit teenagers. By strengthening the mental health of young people today, we create a better tomorrow,” says Henrik Cronebäck, founder of PlayWellMinds
